First published at 12 years of age, Christy Burton has written for a wide variety of publications in many genres. With a varied post secondary education and extensive work and volunteerism history, the mother of 3 has a broad knowledge base from which to draw. She was a spokesperson for Pollution Probe, delivered hundreds of talks at Toronto Zoo and held various business seminars on everything from sustainability to PIPEDA.

Christy was a founding member of one of the first recycling committee's in the GTA, receiving accolades from then North York Mayor Mel Lastman. Bell Canada and others followed the innovative methodology used successfully by this committee to save millions of dollars, and stop untold tonnes of materials from going to landfill.

Christy has published personal columns and articles in various publications for about 2 decades. For several years, she was the writer/editor/photographer for the Innisfil Scope. Christy started up the news department for radio station CJLF Barrie where she acted as Radio News Director for about 5 years. She set up other news departments and acted as director/writer/anchor for other radio stations and online television shows and read tech news for Category5 tv.

Christy is an occasional teacher/EA with the Simcoe County District School Board. She has operated her own communications company for about 7 years, specializing in creating marketing materials that illustrate and increase corporate and organizational sustainability. She continues to freelance as an editor, photojournalist and writer. She is an abuse and cancer survivor.
